Associate Head of Content, SEO

Job Description

Animalz is seeking an Associate Head of Content, SEO — a high-level individual contributor role bridging senior content marketers and leadership, requiring fluidity between hands-on content creation and strategic account oversight. The position emphasises exceptional content that serves reader value alongside search performance.

Key Responsibilities:
- Research, outline, and write SEO-optimised blog posts, guides, and landing pages balancing search intent with quality
- Refresh existing content for improved rankings and engagement across traditional and AI-powered discovery channels
- Develop content strategies incorporating SEO and Answer Engine Optimisation data
- Manage 2–5 client accounts with aligned content calendars
- Generate strategic briefs accounting for keyword targeting, search intent, and AI visibility
- Serve as consultative partner to customers and flag account health risks proactively
- Deliver monthly performance reports using GA4, Ahrefs, and Clearscope
- Assign work to writers, review drafts, and maintain editorial quality standards
- Monitor AI search tools (Perplexity, ChatGPT, Gemini) and their content citation patterns

Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years content marketing experience (preferably B2B SaaS or agency)
- 2+ years customer-facing B2B marketing agency or in-house experience
- Exceptional writing ability producing publication-ready content with minimal revision
- Deep SEO knowledge: keyword research, optimisation, content audits, and competitive analysis
- Active Answer Engine Optimisation experience
- Demonstrated AI tool proficiency (ChatGPT, Claude) in content workflows
- Proficiency with GA4, Ahrefs, Clearscope, Google Search Console, and Screaming Frog
- At least 4 hours of overlap with US time zones (EST/PST)
