SEO Specialist (19 month Maternity Cover)

Job Description

ToursByLocals seeks an SEO Specialist to support the Performance Marketing team in executing their SEO content strategy. Reporting to the Director of Performance Marketing, this role focuses on day-to-day execution of the SEO content pipeline, managing AI-assisted workflows, quality assurance, and technical troubleshooting. This is a 19-month maternity cover position, ideally starting June 8th, 2026.

ToursByLocals is an online travel marketplace connecting travelers with customized, private tours in over 170 countries.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Execute end-to-end SEO content pipeline including brief creation, AI workflow management, quality review, and page publishing
- Conduct technical SEO QA on canonicals, indexability, redirects, status codes, and sitemaps
- Scale AI-assisted content through prompt template development, SOPs, and quality checklists
- Implement internal linking improvements using defined patterns
- Monitor Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools for coverage issues
- Coordinate with engineering teams through clear, scoped tickets
- Track and report weekly on completed work

Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years SEO experience covering content generation, keyword research, on-page/off-page optimization, and audits
- Proficiency with Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and SEMRush
- Hands-on experience scaling AI content with governed workflows
- Technical SEO QA skills and crawler experience (Screaming Frog equivalent)
- CMS publishing and bulk upload workflow familiarity
- E-commerce or marketplace product experience (50,000+ monthly visitors)
- Strong project management and process documentation skills
- Must be legally able to work in Canada (no sponsorship available)
